About the Event

This workshop is a perfect way to learn two fun techniques in one class

First, you can develop an understanding of the Draw-Sew-Trim applique process while creating a beautiful background to your mosaic landscape.

Then you can learn how to decorate your pictures with gorgeous mosaic pieces in a fast, relaxing and tidy way.

In this workshop I guide you through the preparation process, starting with printing your pattern, assembling it and transferring it onto white cotton fabric. I help you with fabric and thread selections. I instruct the applique process step by step showing you all the little tricks and tips of the technique that saves you a lot of time and effort with any of your future applique projects.

I show you how to finish the raw edges with beautiful satin stitches.

Then I take you to the plane of magical mosaics, where you can create wonderful mandalas, pictures, decorations using up your leftover fabrics from other projects.

You don't know how relaxing it is until you try!

The workshop takes place in a designated Facebook group. The price of the ticket includes patterns for different designs: a leaf, two fish, a landscape and a mandala. The patterns will be available in the Facebook group, in the "Files" section. The workshop will be recorded, therefore it will be available to rewatch at any time in the future, so you do not need to worry if the time of the workshop is not convenient for you. This gives you an opportunity to work at your own pace and at the convenience of your home.

I start to upload videos with instructions ahead of time, so you can get prepared for the workshop. On the workshop day, I will go live and instruct the project step by step. Later more videos may be added covering the making of all the pieces.

If you have any questions please ask in the comments and I get back to you as soon as possible.

If there is a question that is better demonstrated than described in words, I am happy to record new videos within the group.

So it is an ever-growing live group that gives you the opportunity to chat with the members and share your progress and thoughts with us.

About your pattern:

This pattern is instructed using the Draw-Sew-Trim technique and the mosaic technique.

Size: A good size for the leaf an fish: 25cm x 15cm (10" x 6"). A good size for a landscape : 40cm x 40cm (16" x 16").

A good size for the mandala: 50 cm x 50 cm (20" x 20")

(But you can enlarge the pattern to whatever size you need.)

You can decorate your T-shirts, garments, placemats, table runners, notebook covers and so much more with this fun technique.

How to get access to the Facebook group:

If we are „Friends” on Facebook, I will invite you to the designated group of the workshop. All you need to do is to accept the invitation and you get instant access to the videos that guide you through the process of creating your own piece.

If we are not „Friends” on Facebook, which means we are not connected yet, you will need to send me a Friend Request:

  1. Copy and paste this link into your search bar on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/katalin.horvath.716970
  2. Click the search button and when it finds me, just click on „Add Friend”     I will look for your Friend Request, add you to my contacts and to the relevant group as soon as possible.

In the group, you will find numbered videos of the project with short descriptions of what they cover. I present the videos in English.

If you do not understand English, you may still ask questions in comments and I will answer your question as thorough as I can. It is very important since Facebook gives an instant translation of these texts to your chosen language. That may help your understanding of the process beyond the visual experience.

There will be more classes coming up in various themes. I hope you got inspired and I look very much forward to seeing you at any of my workshops.

Happy quilting!
